You can access this screen by selecting 'Go to - Substance'. Choose a substance and use the pencil to enter editing mode on this screen. On the 'Linked to' tab, click the 'New' button above the 'Departments' overview to add departments that are linked to the current substance.
After opening the screen, you can choose the start and end dates for the department to be connected to the substance. If you do not provide a start and/or end date, the link will be considered 'active for ever'.
In the department overview, you can select one or more departments by checking the box at the beginning of each line. You can use the search field to filter to the overview. When you enter a new search term, any previously selected departments will remain checked. When you have chosen all the departments you want to link to the substance, click the 'Add'-button in the top right corner.
When you have added all the departments you want to add, click the 'Close' button to exit the screen. The departments become visible in the substance, but they are not yet fully connected. Only after clicking the 'Save' button will the departments be properly linked to the substance.
