SOFOS 360
Create a new BRZO analysis
Menu > Go to > BRZO analysis > Create a new BRZO analysis

This screen allows you to perform a new BRZO analysis on your (maximum) stock. You create a new analysis via the 'New' button. First, you enter the date on which the analysis was performed. Then you indicate from which area the actual stock or maximum stock must be considered. Finally, you indicate whether the maximum stock or current stock defined in your administration should be used for the analysis. If you do not tick the box 'Based on available stock' the maximum stock as defined per area will be used.

After these three fields have been filled, the program will look at all rooms from the one entered and, depending on the set stock option, determine the current or maximum stock per substance. Then it will determine for each substance in which BRZO-class the substance falls and whether the substance exceeds the threshold values set for that class. The summation rule will also be used if applicable.

In order to determine whether a substance is covered by a BRZO classification, the CAS number of the substance is used. It could be that you have substances in your inventory that are not identified by SOFOS as BRZO substances while they could be. The reason is that in the guidelines (See annex 1 in the following document for a description of the BRZO substances including the threshold values: Directive 2012/18/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 4 July 2012 on the control of major-accident hazards involving dangerous substances, amending and subsequently repealing Council Directive 96/82/EC For the EEA relevant text (europa.eu) ) it is not always clearly indicated when a substance is a BRZO substance. Via the New button above the overview of the BRZO substances you can manually add the (maximum) stock of a substance.

Above the overview of the BRZO substances are two buttons 'Recalculate' and 'Search again'. With the 'Recalculate' button you can run the threshold value calculation again if, for example, you have added or removed BRZO substances (because they were wrongly marked as BRZO substances). With the help of the Search again-button, all substances in the specified space tree will be reviewed again. Any manually added BRZO substances will remain. However, BRZO substances that you have changed manually could be modified.

If one of the substances exceeds one of the threshold values then the BRZO regime is most likely applicable and you should take further steps. (PGS-6-cover-v2-A4-spread-bleeds-press-2016 (publicatiereeksgevaarlijkestoffen.nl)) or (ARIE regulation).

By using the report button at the top right of the screen, you can print a report with an overview of the selected BRZO analyses. This report can also be retrieved from Overview of BRZO/ARIE analyses.
