Class 1

Micro-organism that at least meets one of the following conditions:

  1. The microorganism does not belong to a species whose representatives are known to be pathogenic to humans, animals or plants;
  2. the micro-organism has a long history of safe use, under circumstances where no special containment measures are taken;
  3. the micro-organism belongs to a species that contains representatives of class 2, 3 or 4, but the strain in question does not contain any genetic material responsible for virulence;
  4. the non-virulent character of the micro-organism has been demonstrated by adequate tests.

 

Class 2

Micro-organism that can cause disease in humans or animals, which it is unlikely that it will spread among the population, while effective prophylaxis, treatment or control is applicable, as well as a micro-organism that can cause disease in plants;

 

Class 3

micro-organism that can cause serious illness in humans or animals, of which is probably spread among the population, while effective prophylaxis, treatment or control is applicable

 

Class 4

Micro organism that can cause a very serious disease in humans or animals which is likely spread among the population, while no effective prophylaxis, treatment or control is applicable;
